Slip-Joint Advice

2021.12.02 23:05 ghost_mtths Slip-Joint Advice

Ahoy,
I’m getting pretty jealous of all these gnarly modern slip-joint knives out there. But I have to admitted I don’t know much about them. So I’m here looking for advice.
Thanks!

2021.12.02 23:05 stfupcakes So I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks. I passed 220-1002 and now I'm a+ certified!

Working towards a tech cert wasn't even on my radar until I whimsically responded to a state-sponsored targeted FB ad offering free certs to underemployed individuals. It was one of those late-night spontaneous auto-fills that usually result in spam and heartache and I didn't think anything else of it until I was contacted about taking the Wonderlic to see if I qualified.
Tech background: I started with cassette drives and dot matrix printers. I loved the novelty of computing and was always ahead of the curve but never put in the effort to learn much about what made things tick. I owe the vast majority of my legacy computer knowledge to World of Warcraft (and, by proxy, f'n South Park which is why I started playing in the first place.) I quit gaming in 2015 and stopped paying attention to tech for a long while. That period of celibacy lasted about six years and was abruptly cut short by my acceptance to the certification program.
Personal background: I'm solidly middle-aged and currently managing a farm that lies relatively adjacent to a one-stoplight town (that's an exaggeration; we only have a four-way stop sign) in a very "historically accurate if we're living in the civil war era" part of the midwest. I had grudgingly resigned myself to a life of plows and cows and was pretty depressed about the situation, tbh. I couldn't justify the investment to go back to school (serial dropout) and opportunities around here are sparse.
How things went: I haven't had to learn anything in years. YEARS. I had to learn how to learn. Overshare - I peaked in high school and I finally know why! (Just because it's hard doesn't mean you're incompetent.) After dicking around for months and wasting a whole lot of time, I finally bore down and got to it. Jason Dion and Professor Messer are my new religion. I passed 1001 with a solid 830 after about four months of half-ass studying, then got cocky and relied on Dion almost completely for 1002; it was a narrow margin, but at 730 I passed.
Side note: One of my most life-changing revelations was realizing that learning was no different than rep grinding in early WoW. You put in the time, you get rewards. All you have to do is show up and do the thing enough times. Sometimes boredom is easier to handle when you conceptualize it in other ways. Maybe that sounds pathetic, but I'm glad I figured that shit out now and late rather than never.
Things I would change: No more idle video watching. Learning is a grind and not effortless. I wasted so much time trying to sponge up info (and did retain some) but what a wasteful time sink that was. Always, ALWAYS notes, even if it just feels like you're wasting your time writing things down you "already know." Familiar =/= knowing a thing. Notebooks and mechanical pencils are cheaper than a retest. It doesn't matter if you read back over it. WRITE IT DOWN. Reword it. Just keep writing.
I stressed about memorizing things. I wouldn't stress about that as much, especially for 1002. These tests are less about knowing everything and more about having a broad and general understanding of what you're going to encounter out in the field. Can you think flexibly about a situation based on the information given? Can you take in details?
So now what? Honestly, I feel more at peace than I've felt in a very long time because I'm starting to see opportunities materialize. One certificate isn't going to get me far but now I've got the validation to know that my efforts are worthwhile. Learning how to learn was a lesson long overdue and I feel prepared to FINALLY finish that f&*ing degree.
Final word: Do not interpret a challenge as a judgment that you can't do a thing. Be scared by that thing, and do it anyway.

I bought endealker a few months back. on nov 16th my account finally was charged for it. I don’t have a receipt in my email or anything. It’s not in my transaction history as buying it, but my bank says otherwise.
It’s such a headache, can I just buy now and play tomorrow or is it too late to join early access?

2021.12.02 23:05 davidbarman Multiple reCaptcha on same page

I have multiple forms on one page. I am trying to get the invisible Google reCaptcha working for each form.
I get the reCaptcha badge for the first form. But the second form I don't see it. When I find it in the Google inspector it looks like it's off the page. I'm implementing both of them in the same way.
Any help would be appreciated.
I'm using the following reCaptcha script:

The recaptcha's are setup as follows:
let recaptchaId1; let recaptchaId2; var CaptchaCallback = function () { recaptchaId1 = grecaptcha.render("RecaptchaContact", { sitekey: "my recaptcha key", size: "invisible", callback: correctCaptcha_contact, badge: "bottomleft", }); recaptchaId2 = grecaptcha.render("RecaptchaMaintenance", { sitekey: "my recaptcha key", size: "invisible", callback: correctCaptcha_maintenance, badge: "bottomleft", }); };
and the reCaptcha HTML for the forms is like this:
